Commemorative Installation - Chinese New Year

IMPRESSIVE INSTALLATION EVOKING THE YEAR OF THE HORSE

Alluding to the Chinese New Year and on display until March 22th, it presents several points of interest, notably a colourful horse symbolising the sign that rules 2026, as well as an emblematic Chinese gateway and an iconic life-sized peach tree.

Visitors can admire an installation composed of approximately 80 illuminated lanterns and numerous Chinese ornaments displayed throughout the Art Gallery. The celebration of this special occasion is also evident at the main entrance of Casino Lisboa, where elements of the installation decorate the revolving door.

Last Tuesday, on the February 17th, the “Lunar New Year” officially began — a date celebrated in China, across East Asia, and by many communities around the world.

Saturday, the February 21st, precisely at the opening to the public, Casino Lisboa officially inaugurated its commemorative programme featuring several millenary Chinese New Year traditions, including the “Incense Ceremony”, the “Roast Suckling Pig Ritual” and the iconic “Lion Dance”.

Filled with rhythm, colour and vibrancy, the ancestral “Lion Dance” moved through the different leisure spaces and gaming areas at three moments throughout the day, allowing all visitors to enjoy this iconic performance in a festive atmosphere celebrating Chinese culture and tradition.
